WoodArt
At one point I called these Building Blocks For Big People but it didn’t quite fit. I made over a hundred and when they were displayed together typically only the kids would play with them. It’s such an interesting thing about Art that as soon as a piece is shown in a place of Art - gallery, shop, even in a frame, people grow distant. “Don’t touch the art, it’s precious.” These are just the opposite the more people that pick them up, play with them, rub the soft surface on their face - the better. I mean it does make sense an artist can take a piece of cloth (canvas) rub colored oils on it (paint) using little tools with hair poking out (brushes) add their whole life experience, tons of heart and soul - and a painting comes to life. It’s a Holy act no question. A mystical mash up of journaling, pictures, shapes. So maybe that’s why these are made out of wood. The more they’re handled and loved the more they get that soft, loved on feeling of a trusty stair banister in an old home.
